Assignment #9

Audio record:

Text:
The Harvard Study is study people's entire lives to see what really keeps people happy and healthy. They tracked the lives of 724 men and asked them about their works, their home lives, their healthy and son. The clearest message that they get from this 75-year study is this: Good relationships keeps us happier and healthier.

I'm not surprised by Dr. Robert's finding. Because people need to interact with people everywhere in life. Even if you are rich or famous, you will not be happy if you have bad relationships.

According to my opinion, having good health and happiness can make a good life. If I am rich, but I don't have good health to use it. I can't be happy, right? So, I think the health and happiness are the most important things in our lives.

Texts:
After listening to the TED Talk. There are three questions.
1. Do you procrastinate sometimes?
Yes, I procrastinate sometimes. But I always regret doing that.
2. Why do you procrastinate?
Because I'm tired or I think that I have enough time to do, so I always postpone it until the last minute. I think the biggest problem is that I always think that there is a lot of time, so much that I procrastinate again and again.
3. How to stop procrastinating?
I try to arrange everything in advance, and live every day with the attitude- never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.

Inside the mind of a master procrastinator

3 keywords I learn from the talk:

1. procrastinate 拖延
to delay doing something that you ought to do, usually because you do not want to do it

2. propagate 繁衍
( of a plant or animal) to produce young plants or animals

3. dormant 休眠的
Something that is dormant is not active or growing but has the ability to be active at a later time

Summary:
Although we always procrastinate things that we need to do. But I still think that we should do the things right away. We should get rid of this bad habit. Don't be controlled by instant gratification money anymore. We need to do the right things in the right time.

5 words I learn from the talk:
1. grit 意志力
courage and determination despite difficulty

2. military 軍事的
relating to or belonging to the armed forces

3. perseverance 不屈不撓,堅持不懈
continued effort and determination

4. growth mindset 成長思維
When students believe they can get smarter, they understand that effort makes them stronger. Therefore they put in extra time and effort, and that leads to higher achievement.

5. predict 預測
to say that an event or action will happen in the future, especially as a result of knowledge and experience

This talk is talking about the grit. They find that success people have the characteristic, grit. The important thing isn't IQ or social intelligence.

Smart Speaker

(A) Do you have a smart speaker at home?
Yes, I have a smart speaker at home in Chiayi. We called it " 小愛同學 ".

(B) What is a smart speaker?
The key to the operation of smart speakers is the voice recognition technology that is used. Using voice recognition, it is possible for the smart speaker to understand what is being said and act upon it.Although each smart speaker system is slightly different, when looking at how they work, it is possible to generalise slightly to see the basic concepts.Typically the smart speaker listens to all speech and awaits a “wake word.”

(C) How does a smart speaker work?
Smart speakers have become very popular and there is a variety of smart speakers on the market from many different manufacturers.

These smart speakers enable us to do a variety of different things from controlling wireless enabled lights to ordering various products and takeaways online as well as providing information like the weather forecast, time, date and many more things. And they can also stream music to the speakers themselves. In fact they are what is termed virtual assistants.

Hyperloop system and the transport system in Taiwan

I think the Hyperloop system is a cool and novel system, it's a fast and convenient transportation. But I think it is very difficult to let it popularize. Because it is too costly and requires a lot of resources. It's fare must be very expensive.
In Taiwan, there are many transportation. l think the MRT is very convenient for people who don't have cars or scooters. It's fare is also very cheap. So, MRT allows me to move around in Taipei. For me, transportation in Taiwan is progressing.
